artist biography

Alex Katz (b. 1927) is an American figurative artist. In particular, he is known for his paintings, sculptures and prints and has become ubiquitous in advertising and graphic design. Katz' work is said to have influenced many fellow painters, like David Salle, Peter Halley and Richard Prince, in addition to younger artists, like Peter Doig, Julian Opie, Liam Gillick, Elizabeth Peyton, Barb Januszkiewicz, Johan Andersson and Brian Alfred.
