It is difficult not to think of the overlap of memory, childhood candy and observation of reality truer than nature, when considering the sculptures that readily established the artist on “the other side of art,” operating a genuine ritual transfer in which the edible sweets become art. What she is offering amfAR today is a Candy closely affiliated with the sphere of Pop Art, represented in an oversized shape.
Shipping costs and all applicable taxes are the responsibility of the successful bidder.
More than a medium, the Candy interpreted by Laurence Jenkell became a “language.” Her works join in a thought and cultural process: the subject of the Candy allying simplicity and universality. A quest for the real, certainly, yet also a spectacular unreality and new beauty - this is how one might be tempted to define the art of Laurence Jenkell, who brilliantly joined the international contemporary art scene in the mid 1990s. Her work stems from both an intellectual and a cultural process and today are included in major private, public and institutional collections around the world.
