Thank you.\n\nInspired by early encounters with avant-garde works by artists such as Jean Dubuffet, and with the movement around Art Brut and Art Informel, Barceló has devoted himself from the start of his career onwards to Conceptual art. The reduction of representational elements ever closer to the point of abstraction serves to emphasize all the more the texture and materiality of painting. More recent works, such as his 2011 Endosymbiotique, also belong in this context: the canvas as the traditional support of painting is worked in color until, in an intensive process of structuring that continues beyond the edges, it transforms into a relief. It thus becomes the trace and object-like visualization of the painterly process.
